Hello and welcome to the books and geeks blog. Here is Joanna your guide in this journey and the owner of this blog.

This week book

This week we will talk about one of the most important books: The magic of thinking big

About the book

The magic of thinking big is a self-help book written by David J. Schwartz which was published for the first time in 1987 but still one of the influential books in this field, it gives you useful methods to get whatever you want.

general idea

“Think big and you’ll live big”

David J. Schwartz

Main ideas

  1.  Make your mind produce positive thoughts

  2. develop the power of belief

  3. plan a concrete success-building program

make your mind produce positive thoughts

It’s the power of thinking, and here most people might ask how I can think positively when I am not in a good mood?

well, it’s not about you are in a bad mood it’s about the way you think or the kind of thoughts and expressions you tend to use that determines the way you feel and so then the mood you have.

So I think the right question here to ask is how would I make my mind think more positively?

use words that promise victory

 David J. Schwartz

1- Use words to produce big positive images:

  1. watch what kind of expressions you usually use

  2. replace the negative ones with other positive

for example instead of saying “this is not going to work” it’s more positive to say” This just needs more effort to work”.

2- stretch your vision

That’s right change the way you are looking at things, see what things can be not just what they are, practice adding value to people and yourself, look a little bit further, believe in your potentials and others too

3- keep your eyes focused on the big abjective

see things through your strong thoughts. for instance, think of those things that matter things that make difference; in living with neighbors, the big objective is mutual respect and friendship, in studying the big objective is the dream you want to achieve.

develop the power of belief

1- think success don’t think failure: when you face a difficult situation think: ” I’ll win” not ” I’ll probably lose”

2- remind yourself that you’re better than you think: remember that successful people are just ordinary folks who believe in themselves.

3- Believe big, the size of your success is determined by the size of your belief: think little goals and expect little achievements. Think goals and win big success.

plan a concrete success-building program

1- Manage your environment: do select friends who have different views from your own

2- Don’t let negative thinkers pull you down to their level: let them slide by like water from the proverbial

3- get the action habit:

  1. don’t wait until conditions are perfect

  2. use an action to cure for fear and gain confidence

  3. think in terms of now

4- Turn defeat into victory:

  1. when you lose learn and then go to win next time

  2. have the courage to be your own constructive critic

  3. stop blaming luck

  4. blend perspective with extermination

  5. remember: there is a good side in every situation

conclusion

It’s all in your head, your biggest dreams, and your worst fears, it’s just the way you think about it.

and here are the most important points you might like to save somewhere:

1- believe you can succeed and you will

2- build confidence and destroy fear

3- You are what you think you are

4- Make your attitudes your allies
